Diakonia names the movement from worship toward the neighbour: mercy made practical, organised and accountable.
Meaning
From Greek diakonia: service, ministry.
In Christian language the word describes service to others and, over time, the Church’s organised social ministry. It includes immediate help, accompaniment, care, advocacy and the building of communities in which people are not abandoned when life becomes difficult.
For the Apostolic Orthodox Church, a separate Diakonia site gives social service its own human-centred entrance: someone looking for help should not have to navigate theology, church structure or news before finding a contact route.

This site is organised around people’s needs, volunteers, local communities, safeguarding and transparency rather than ecclesiastical administration.
